Everyone is welcome to come along to a DRNZ event. While we do have a membership option, we also provide an opportunity for you to come and see what distance riding is all about without being required to be a member.
Below is information which shows the costs involved with DRNZ as well as costs to attend one of our events.
Event Entry Fee
The event entry fee is set at $1 per km i.e. a 10km ride will cost $10; a 40km ride will cost $40. This is standard for all DRNZ Events.
To be a member of DRNZ there is an annual fee of $60 for an adult or $45 for a Youth (under 18yrs as of 1 July). All membership renewals are due 1 July.
If you are not a member, there is an additional cost at each event of $10 which is added to your entry fee and covers your day membership.
If you wish to ride in classes other than Intro RTT and would like to be eligible for season awards, to compete in championship classes and/or have kilometres credited you need to be a member of DRNZ.
Horse Registration Fee
To register your horse with DRNZ there is a one off cost of $30, this is not an annual fee. Upon registration you will receive a DRNZ logbook for your horse where all your event information will be recorded.
If you wish to ride your horse in classes other than Intro RTT and would like your horse to be eligible for season awards, to compete in championship classes and/or have kilometres credited your horse needs to be registered with DRNZ.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. I 'm an adult and have come along to a DRNZ event for the first time to do a 25km ride; i am not a member. What is required of me?
You will be entered into the Intro RTT 25km event which will have an entry fee of $25. In addition to this, as you are a non-member, you will have an additional $10 day membership fee. In total this event would cost you $35.
If you chose to sign up as a member at the event then it would cost you $60 for an annual membership and $25 for the ride, so $85 in total. All future rides you entered would not attract the additional $10 fee for a day membership.
2. If I become a member and register my horse at a later date will my previous events count?

3. Will my existing qualifications from other distance riding groups such as Endurance, RADRS, WATRC be recognised?
Yes, DRNZ will recognise horse and rider qualifications however you will be required to provide proof of these qualifications to the DRNZ Committee prior to entering an event.
